What favicon sizes do I need for my website?
At minimum, you need a 32x32 ICO file and a 180x180 Apple Touch Icon. For full coverage, include 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 192x192 (Android), and 512x512 (PWA). This tool generates all of them from a single image.
What is the ICO format and why do I need it?
ICO is a special icon format that can contain multiple sizes in a single file. Browsers use it for the tab icon. While modern browsers support PNG favicons, ICO provides the widest compatibility, especially with older browsers.
What image should I use as a source?
Use a square image at least 512x512 pixels for best results. SVG files work great since they scale without losing quality. Simple logos and icons work better than complex photographs at small sizes.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, and nothing is stored anywhere.
